Rutgers SAFETY Course - 2/28/18 in Warren

Considering being a Coach?

The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic is required in order to coach in Watchung Little League and is also valid for many other youth sports.  Once the three-hour course is completed, your certification card will be valid for many years into the future.  Please take advantage of this FREE opportunity in Warren on February 28th at 7:00 PM through this link:  http://register.communitypass.net/warrentwp (finger print and CPR dates are noted on the invitation but are not required to take the course).

Otherwise please take a look at the following website for future dates and locations: http://www.youthsports.rutgers.edu/educational-courses/schedule

The Rutgers SAFETY Clinic (Sports Awareness for Educating Today's Youth ™) is a three-hour program that meets the "Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs" (N.J.A.C. 5:52) and provides partial civil immunity protection to volunteer coaches under the "Little League Law" (2A:62A-6 et. seq.)

On May 12, 1986, New Jersey became the first state in the nation to pass legislation which protects volunteer athletic coaches, managers, and officials from lawsuits. Commonly referred to as the "Little League Law" (2A:62A-6 et. seq.), this legislation extends partial civil immunity to volunteers who have attended a "safety orientation and training skills program."

New USABat Standard

Please note that beginning January 1, 2018 a new baseball bat standard (USABat) is going to go into effect for all Little League Baseball, Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Baseball, and other amateur programs nation-wide.  By utilizing the most current advancements available, manufacturers can now develop bats with a wood-like performance, which is important for the long-term success of the game.

With some exceptions for Tee-Ball (Sticker Program) and Senior League (Exempt) age groups, a bat must be marked with the following USA Baseball stamp or the bat cannot be used in any game or practice:

Please be sure to check for this USA Baseball stamp before buying a new bat!!!
